Mushroom exploration and illustration at the Brooklyn Book Festival

Melany Kahn and Ellen Korbonski were selected from thousands of authors and illustrators for Bookend events at the Brooklyn Book Festival. Melany will present mushrooms: their colors, characteristics like fish gills, their smells – some smell fruity like an apricot while others look like ocean coral. Mel will share recipes and cook mushrooms, followed by taste tests - which is store bought and which is a wild mushroom? Some have a nutty flavor and Melany will discuss the delicious umami flavor. Ellen Korbonski will share her face painting talents and teach children how to draw mushrooms with watercolors.
